New York Beauty Block Quilt
This lovely Asian themed quilt was created by Pamela Westmacott and uses a middle feature Geisha panel surrounded by a series of New York Beauty blocks. To complete this quilt we utilised echoing around the Geishas, ditch stitching around the New York Beauty Blocks and then quilted outlines of the New York Beauty Blocks in the open areas to continue the theme of this wonderful piece of work.

Mariner's Compass Quilt
This is a stunning Mariner's Compass quilt. We chose a simple use of lines and stitching in the ditch on a large portion of this quilt to highlight the amazing compass feature in the middle of the quilt as well as the beautiful border fabric. On the inner brown border we chose scallops - I find scallops work well on many types of quilts on both small and large borders. The large brown triangles and the black border feature a pattern made by Ann Bright.

Sampler Quilt

Louise Kimbell made this lovely sampler quilt at a quilting class. With this quilt we used an echoing technique as shown on the butterfly below. This is a fantastic way to accentuate a pattern the quilter has created. The plain green border has more intricate quilting with swirls and feathers.

Memorial Quilt

One of my customers asked me to make several memorial quilts out of her late mother's clothing so she and several of her close relatives would have something special to help preserve the many great memories in their family. For one of these quilts I used a simple nine-patch quilting design and a red, cream, and dark blue fabrics (this quilt was for her nephew who is 12). After I completed the quilt tops she help me to choose the quilting design for each quilt I made - this quilt has a firework quilting pattern.

Memorial Quilt #2

For another of the memory quilts we used a traditional log cabin design which is a brilliant way to use scraps of fabric. We focused on combining light and dark fabrics together to create a contrasting overall design. For this quilt we chose the same red centre for each log cabin square to create a consistent theme throughout the quilt. I quilted this quilt with an edge to edge heart and butterfly pattern.

This lovely quilt was made by Shayne Littley with a pattern she found online. She used 18" squares in putting this quilt together but the true time came from the precision fussy cutting to make the middle squares look so precise.

Bargello Quilt
I made this unique Bargello quilt for my son. It uses different shades of blue with light purple and green highlights. The dark blue fabrics gradually changing to white creates a nice contrast. This quilt was inspired by Millies Quilting. I quilted this one using the water ripple design in an edge to edge pattern on the Gammill Statler Stitcher to keep the wave motif on this quilt.

Double Irish Chain Quilt
This elegant design was custom made for a client who was looking for that perfect gift for her mother. Being of Irish heritage she was looking for something unique yet practical for her mother. We decided to forego the traditional Irish Green for some wonderfully soft blue tones but still used the Irish Shamrock quilt pattern to subtly have the Irish theme present throughout this lovely quilt.

Sampler Quilt
I have two Sampler quilts on this page. The first one features green and red colours that contrast and compliment each other well. Twelve different types of stars are used in 12 inch blocks to include: Free Trade, Constellation Star, Rising Star, Martha Washington Star, Album Variation, Maple Star, Missouri Star, Girls Favourite Star, Ribbon Stars, and 54-40 or Fight. It is quilted using a custom method with a leave design in the blocks and sashing. A simple scalloped border has been chosen along the white border.

Star sampler 1 [1600x1200] Star sampler 2 [1600x1200]

The second Sampler quilt uses a Gold and Purple colour scheme. I used cream colour blocks in between each sampler block to better highlight the intricate quilting used for this quilt. The 12 inch blocks include a Fence Rail, Blossoming Tree, Sawtooth Star, Maple Star. The six inch blocks include a Log Cabin, Roman Square, Nine-Patch, and Pinwheel blocks. As you can see I have used custom quilting here with each square having its own quilt pattern which adds to the richness of the quilt and highlights the flexibility that the Gammill machine allows. A feather theme has been used on the individual blocks, border triangles, and the borders.

Roman Candle Variation
I made this Roman Square variation quilt with a black, white, pink, and purple colour scheme. This quilt was for my voice teacher who loves music and every year organises a concert with her students to raise money for the Jane McGrath Foundation. The concert features a cabaret style with participants wearing black and just a touch of pink (just like the quilt). The quilt uses pink breast cancer fabric.

This quilt uses 3 ½ inch blocks and a diagonal design. In this quilt I used a square block pattern for quilting to keep in line with the motif of this quilt.

Janet’s Quilt
I designed this quilt which was inspired by Kaffe Fasset’s “Wallpaper Strips" Quilt. I only had fat quarters to make this quilt so I made my own design with the same effect! This bright fabric gives the quilt an exciting modern look. I hand quilted this quilt using embroidery thread of different colours. Visit our Free Quilt patterns to see the fabric requirements and directions for assembly.

Caroline’s Quilt
My daughter and I made this quilt using six inch blocks. She did all the sewing on the blocks herself and did a lovely job for a seven year old!!! I've quilted this quilt using the triple heart butterfly design with a corresponding butterfly border. The quilt has dark purple, turquoise, pink, yellow, green and white multicoloured fabrics- all of which she chose herself! It is bordered the same dark purple fabric used as the middle squares. The outer border compliments the turquoise fabrics in the quilt. I am very proud of her- she did a fantastic job!
